I've seen political grandstanding in my day, but Rep. Maxine Waters, California Democrat, takes the cake. For the past nine months, Ms. Waters has been going on TV and around the country, whipping up predominantly black crowds into a frenzy over her impassioned "cause" to impeach President Trump, even threatening to "take him out" (which I assume doesn't mean going out on a date with him).

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Don’t cut 401(k) benefits

Thanks to the media — the "enemies of the people," according to our president — we know that congressional Republicans have been plotting to decimate the ability to save in 401(k) plans, possibly to reduce the maximum one can shield from taxation each year from $18,000 ($24,000 for those over the age of 50) to as little as $2,400. So much for enacting tax reform that will benefit the middle class.

The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has decided the Peace Cross memorial in Prince George's County, Maryland, should come down because it is in the visible shape of a cross, which "carries 'an inherently religious message and creates the unmistakable appearance of honoring only Christian serviceman'" ("Warring Over the Peace Cross," Web, Oct. 23).

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Union processes need separation

Unions represent their members in an effort to ensure fair labor practices. When an employee experiences something he considers unfair, the union usually files a grievance against management in an attempt to rectify the injustice. However, this process can only be effective if there is independence in the adjudication of the grievance. When management is the judge and jury, and then chooses as its representative the official who first ruled against the employee, it is quite unlikely that any type of independence will be possible.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Let grieving family be

The recent flap over President Trump's call to a Green Beret widow is disgusting. White House Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly's remarks to the press corps — despite a minor error — should have provided closure. Instead, Mr. Kelly, a Gold Star father, was called racist, which seems to be the automatic response of the left when anyone disagrees with a person of color.
