OK, we now know when Stephen Strasburg will make his first public appearance at Nationals Park: 2 p.m. Friday.
The Nationals will hold a press conference for their No. 1 draft pick, and they’re going to do it on the field, along the third-base line. Why on the field? Because they’re inviting fans to attend. Anyone who has a ticket for Friday night’s game against the Brewers is allowed to come. Gates will open at 1:30 p.m. The team is offering special $1 tickets in several outfield sections.

The club hasn’t said it yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Strasburg appears back on the field shortly before 7:05 p.m. to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The only question will be whether he fires off a 100-mph fastball or just lobs one up there.
