The afternoon belonged to the Nationals’ future pitching star. This evening has belonged so far to some big sluggers both from Washington and Milwaukee.

The Nationals trail 3-2 in the middle of the fifth, with all but one of the runs coming around on home runs. Prince Fielder and Casey McGehee have each hit bombs off Washington starter J.D. Martin. Adam Dunn has countered with a second-deck shot off Braden Looper.

Stephen Strasburg was introduced to the crowd after the third inning in an awkward interview with MASN’s Debbi Taylor. There wasn’t really an opportunity for the crowd to salute their conquering hero, and he wound up getting only mild applause. Not exactly done well there.

Meanwhile, the skies have turned black as a storm approaches. We may narrowly avoid the worst of it, but everyone’s on alert in case it starts pouring at any moment.
