There’s a point in football camp where it just feels like there’s nothing left to ask and it’s simply time to fast-forward to the first game.

That time might have arrived in College Park.

With the quarterback saga simmering down for Maryland, there is almost nothing newsworthy to pass along today.

OK, here’s one tidbit: Safety Jamari McCollough has moved from strong safety to free safety and seems like a good bet to play in the Terps’ nickel and dime packages.

Now, nothing against McCollough, who’s worked exceptionally hard to get back from an ACL tear that cost him all of 2006 and could be an interesting player to keep an eye on. But to anyone who isn’t immersed in depth charts (or covering a team on an every-day basis), that news might have a tendency to be overlooked.

So things were tame today at Maryland. And the opener against Delaware is now only nine days away.

At this point, it can’t arrive soon enough.
