Was outside of Maryland’s practice facility a little more than an hour ago when A.J. Francis walked passed.

He looked up to see a reporter and a photographer and decided to try his stand-up routine.

“I got a scoop for you,” he said. “I’m starting at quarterback next week.”

Francis, by the way, is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound nose tackle. Given how things go in College Park, it feels at times that just about anyone could play quarterback at some point.

So while Francis will probably play some this year, he might even be able to get some laughs before the fall’s over —- well, in addition to the one he produced today.
