Really, things were slow (as expected) tonight.
Tomorrow might be mundane tomorrow. Actually, it will be worse, since all the questions will come from people who haven’t been around for the last three weeks.
So here’s tonight’s lowdown:
* There was a little Josh Portis talk for Saturday’s opener against Delaware.
“When we want to change the pace, we’ll get him in and get his feet wet,” coach Ralph Friedgen said. “How many plays he’ll play, I don’t know. Probably depends on how the game goes and how he does.”
* Sounds like freshman tight end Matt Furstenburg will play some this year, while an attempt will be made to redshirt Devonte Campbell. Will Furstenburg help much in the first month? Probably not. But he’s a guy to keep an eye on when October arrived.
There was even a quick injury update —- offered up without complaint!
Defensive tackle Travis Ivey is probably about four weeks away from returning from a foot injury; he’s two weeks away from be evaluated and would need another two to make it onto the field.
Offensive tackle Tyler Bowen is in similar straights, though closer to six weeks away from helping.
Defensive end Carl Russell (foot) and safety Drew Robinson (dislocated shoulder) are also out for the opener.
