The Washington Capitals, travel fiascos and all, are here at the Air Canada Centre and ready to face the Toronto Maple Leafs. Since the last time these two teams met, the Leafs are 6-3-1 (7-3-1 counting the win against Washington), and that has moved them from 14th place in the Eastern Conference to … 14th place in the Eastern Conference.
They’ve closed the gap (and opened one on Carolina) but they are a prime example of why you can’t get off to a bad start — it takes a long time to catch up.
