Hours after the Caps sent out a release saying they had rid themselves of the Michael Nylander contract, they recalled Karl Alzner from Hershey. Kyle Wilson has also been recalled and he is replacing Mathieu Perreault, who was sent back to the Bears.
Also, Boyd Gordon is practicing with the team for the first time in weeks. Semyon Varlamov is not out there, though. Neither is Brian Pothier, but the team now has eight defensemen with Alzner here.

The Caps were supposed to fly to Denver this morning and practice there, but the heavy fog prevented the team’s chartered plane from arriving at Dulles last night.
