The Caps are practicing right now at K-Plex here in Arlington, and for the first time in several days, it is pretty much status quo. Despite a rash of injuries, the Caps are rolling along with wins in four straight and points in six consecutive contests.

Not much to report from the beginning of practice. Quintin Laing skated before everyone else, and Boyd Gordon is still nowhere to be seen. All of the other injured guys are on the ice — Alex Ovechkin and Mike Knuble in orange jerseys while Tom Poti and Shaone Morrisonn are in their typical black sweaters.

UPDATE: Bruce Boudreau said both Tom Poti and Shaone Morrisonn will be on the road trip. Poti could play tomorrow, while Boudreau thinks Morrisonn could play sometime next week.

The Caps travel to Philadelphia to face the reeling Flyers tomorrow. The first two times these teams played it was hailed as a matchup of the titans, but Philly has fallen back and if the playoffs started today, the Flyers would not be a part of it.

The Flyers are among the league leaders in goals against and power-play percentage, and aren’t at the bottom of the league in any major category.

“Definitely on paper, it doesn’t make sense,” Mike Knuble said of is former mates. “They’ve got a lot of intangibles, and there is a lot of experience and presence, too. It seems to happen every year there — a little lull, but all the ingredients are there. It wass hard to put a finger on it when I played there, and it is even hard now.

“They have the right players and personnel there, so they’ll right the ship.”
