Between illness and other issues, we didn’t have our weekly update in the Scribes League. But today’s the day, and we’ll be looking at Tarik El-Bashir’s sturggling roster.

Analysis: El-Bashir’s goaltending looked like a problem on draft day, and it has been to this point. Varlamov went about 5-6 rounds too high. Spending a pick on a high-risk, high-reward guy is OK, but multiple picks (Semin, Gaborik) probably isn’t a good idea. Slow starts for Getzlaf and Staal aren’t helping, but this team is still middle of the pack offensively. Goaltending is the biggest problem.
Owner’s take: “Aw, dude, what place are we in? [NOTE: That’s a red flag] Well, we’ve gotten off to a slower than expected start, but we have a lot of character guys in our room and a lot of leadership and heart but not a lot of skill. Our goaltending hasn’t been great, but it is a long season and we’re hopeful we will have a good second half.”
