A reader (@ChrisG7000 on twitter) asked me for an update on the whereabouts of Viktor Dovgan, the Caps’ 7th-round pick in 2005. It turns out Dovgan was invited to Hershey’s training camp but he failed to report, so his contract has been terminated and he’s no longer property of the organization, so sayeth a team official.

Dovgan played 53 games for South Carolina last year and two for Hershey. Two years ago he decided to play in the KHL instead of North America. Dovgan was never a prospect on the level of the other Russian kids in the system, but some people thought he might be interesting to monitor a couple of years ago. He wasn’t invited to Caps camp this year, and decided against accepting the Hershey invite.

Can’t find any updates on the web about whether or not he’s actually playing hockey this year, but it won’t be the Caps (or any of their affiliates).
