All politics is local, but this might be taking it a bit far.

A Maine woman defeated her husband, 127 votes to 76, in a municipal race Tuesday, the Morning Sentinel reported.

Jennifer Johnson, a Democrat, and David Johnson, a Republican, said they accepted party nominations for a warden seat — a person who supervises polling sites during elections — in Waterville to call attention to public service, the newspaper said.

The couple, who have been married for 10 years and have three children, wanted to show that rival parties can get along, The Associated Press reported.
