Walking over from my downtown Charlotte hotel, not only did I cross Tryon Street, but I ran into former Redskins assistants Don Breaux and Rennie Simmons on the way into Bank of America Stadium.

Both were longtime Joe Gibbs loyalists. Breaux, who worked for the  Panthers from 1995-2002, retired on the eve of Jim Zorn’s first training camp in 2008. Simmons retired after last season.

Breaux and Simmons both previously coached for the Redskins from 1981-93, the first 12 years under Gibbs and the last under Richie Petitbon.
