Pro Football Talk floated a rumor this morning that the Redskins could be bringing back Joe Gibbs to fill a Bill Parcells-type position in the front office.

Gibbs and owner Dan Snyder had dinner in Charlotte two weeks ago the night before the Redskins-Panthers job.

But according to a person close to Gibbs, it’s doubtful Coach Joe will come back to the team for a third tour of duty.

The person said Gibbs and Snyder speak regularly but Joe’s plate is full with NASCAR, his son Coy’s motocross team, his charity work and his grandkids.

Here’s the problem with a Gibbs return: Personnel was never his strong suit. There were plenty of blunders during his second stay (2004-07).
