The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network announced today that it will move MASN and MASN2 on its DirecTV channel lineup.

On August 13, MASN2 will move to channel 641.

On August 27, MASN will move to chanel 640.

High-definition Games will be found on 640-1 for MASN and 641-1 for MASN2.

The moves will mean that MASN and MASN2 will be found on consecutive spots in the channel lineup, in theory making it easier to find which baseball games are on which channel. (Currently, the games are found on 626 and 671.)

The need for two MASN channels is the result of the network having the rights to games of both the Orioles and Nationals; the two teams have 80 games on each channel. Both teams have seen relatively low ratings on television this year, and some fans have blamed confusion over where to find the games each evening.

During the first week of the changes, DirecTV will keep the games on the old channels and show an on-screen message to keep fans informed.
