Hours before the convention floor even opened here at the DNC, Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown was forced to return home to mourn the loss of his cousin, Cathy Brown, who was shot and killed Sunday.
Brown, who won a seat on the DNC Platform committee earlier this summer, issued the following statement:
“Shortly after arriving in Denver yesterday afternoon, I learned that my first cousin, Cathy Brown, was killed at her home in Gaithersburg. Montgomery County police are investigating the shooting. I will be traveling back to Maryland immediately to be with my family during this difficult time. I leave my fellow delegates with a heavy heart and I ask that everyone keep my family in their prayers.”
