Former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner touted his delegation’s prime location near the stage at the Pepsi Center this morning.
“Wait till you get to the hall and see where the Virginia delegation sits,” Warner told a cheering crowd of Virginia delegates yesterday morning. The delegation is seated one section back from the stage, behind only the Illinois and Delaware delegations — a nod to the home states of Barack Obama and Joe Biden, respectively.
Democrats are hoping they can win Virginia for Barack Obama in November — the last time a Democratic presidential candidate won the state was in 1964.
Virginia delegate Marjorie Clark, a retired teacher, said that when she attended the 1992 convention in New York, the delegation was seated at the rear of the convention hall.
