Journey TP from IDW Publishing

Journey, trade paperback, IDW Publishing ($19.99)

Another lost gem from the 1980s. Before he became a super-hero workhorse for DC 20 years ago, William Messner-Loebs used to write and draw this Eisner-ean tale of a lone trapper living alone on the American frontier in the 19th Century. Beautiful, funny, even (I hate to say) poignant. Highest possible recommendation.

Thor by J. Michael Straczynski: Vol. 1 from Marvel Publishing

Thor by J. Michael Straczynski: Volume1, trade paperback, Marvel Publishing ($19.99)

Ask and you shall receive. Thor has been brought back from the dead yet again—and this time his mortal form is actually the original Doctor Don Blake. Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski is knocking Thor out of the park (at the moment, anyway. We won’t talk about the end of his Spider-Man run…), with nice art by Olivier Coipel too.

Greg Bennett is the Owner/Manager of Big Planet Comics, a chain of pop art specialty stores in the DC Metro area with locations in Georgetown, Bethesda, Vienna, & College Park.
