G7 leaders to announce new sanctions on Russia

The leaders of the world's seven largest economies will announce new sanctions on Russia at their summit in Japan in the latest effort to force Moscow to end its war in Ukraine, a senior White House official said.

Biden heads to G-7 summit in Japan distracted by debt crisis back home

President Biden departed Wednesday for Hiroshima, Japan, where the leaders of the Group of Seven industrial powers will discuss the road ahead in the Ukraine war and a unified approach to dealing with Chinese aggression, even as fears of a U.S. debt default threaten to overshadow the high-stakes talks.
