Being stuck in listen-only mode is no position to be stuck in on a teleconference.

Which is why I didn’t manage to extend Middle Tennessee coach Rick Stockstill beyond a couple questions the Sun Belt teleconference regulars gave him.


Here’s the condensed version of his answers:

* He expects the Blue Raiders to improve their performance from last week, a loss to Troy in Murfreesboro —- mainly because he believes most teams make their biggest gains after playing their first game.

* His team is young, and the thing he’s trying to be careful about is force-feeding too much information to guys thrust onto the field early in their careers. “That doesn’t mean that all the sudden, they played one game and are ready for X-Y-Z when it should be E-F-G,” Stockstill said. “You just take it step by step each game.”

And that’s about it. One last (planned) entry for the holiday coming in a little bit.
