A Pac-10 opponent was unfamiliar and certainly intriguing last week for Maryland.

A team from the Mid-American Conference —- especially one that hasn’t been to a bowl in two decades and visited Byrd Stadium twice earlier this decade, as Eastern Michigan is —- doesn’t quite have that new-foe shine.

Anyway, here’s a rundown of Maryland’s work (to the tune of a 14-3 record) against the 13 teams in the MAC. The Terps have played 14 games against them since 1996 —- though, to be fair, the six games against Temple came when the Owls were either in the Big East or independent.

Akron: 1-0, a 44-14 victory in 2002.
Ball State: Never played
Bowling Green: Never played, but apparently on the schedule for 2010 and 2011.
Buffalo: Never played
Central Michigan: Never played
Eastern Michigan: 3-0, with victories in 2001, 2002 and 2003
Kent State: Never played
Miami (Ohio): 0-1, a 34-21 loss in 1969
Northern Illinois: 2-1, with victories in 1996 and 2004 and a road loss in 2003
Ohio: 1-1, the most recent meeting a loss to open the 1997 season
Temple: 6-0, with all games between 1997 and 2005
Toledo: Never played
Western Michigan: 1-0, a 23-0 win in 1989
