Always fun to have two stories to work on, so this will be brief.

Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen defended quarterback Jordan Steffy today from booing patrons. At the same time, he said Steffy underwent an X-ray on his thumb this morning —- delayed a day by the Labor Day.

So Steffy’s status is unclear, and Friedgen wouldn’t commit to a starting QB regardless of the scenario presented to him.

Meanwhile, Maryland’s apparel deal is for five years and $17.5 million with Under Armour, and it covers all of the department’s teams —- for now, at least those that Under Armour has a product line for. It includes basketball, and coach Gary Williams said his personal services deal with Nike expired at the end of last month.

OK, plenty of writing to do. Will drop in some stuff later in the day.
