Got an e-mail this afternoon that brought a little confusion to my laptop.

Apparently, Channel 5 in D.C. has shown ads claiming that it will show the Oct. 4 Maryland-Virginia game at noon.

Trouble is, Maryland-Virginia starts at 7. And it will air on ESPNU or ESPN360.

So unless Doc Brown, Scott Bakula or some other time traveler is getting involved in this, then things are dicey on two fronts.

One, the game time. I contacted both Maryland the ACC office today and was assured game time is still 7 p.m. in Charlottesville. And ESPNU or ESPN360 will carry the game.

So what’s Channel 5 showing in that noon spot? They get the Raycom game for four weekends this year, so the local Fox affiliate will be airing N.C. State-Boston College as it gets the Original Hog treatment.

The television listings claiming Channel 5 would be carrying a football game at noon on Oct. 4? Correct. The claims it would be Maryland-Virginia, whether intentional or accidental? Wishful thinking.
