A little piece of offseason business to pass along: Virginia lacrosse coach Dom Starsia had his contract extended by two years today.

For some coaches in Charlottesville, an extension would be a big deal. Starsia, though, has won three national championships in 16 seasons. He’s been to 10 final fours with the Cavaliers. He’s going into the sport’s hall of fame this fall.

In short, he’s not going anywhere until he decides he wants to retire and take a well-deserved place as one of lacrosse’s erudite elder statesman.

For now, he’ll be an erudite coach who has a chance to crack the 300-win mark this season with a team that should be favored to at least return to the final four. And as long as he’s coaching, he’ll continue to collect well-regarded recruiting classes.

So things, as usual, are pretty good for Starsia —- and just a teensy bit more secure after today.
