On the night Alex Ovechkin is returning to the lineup, Alexander Semin is leaving it. Semin is “day-to-day” and it probably centers from a nagging wrist injury. He took a nasty hit from Florida’s Keith Ballard while trying to complete a slapshot, and he’s been wearing protection on his wrist ever since.

Jay Beagle will play in his place. He made his NHL debut here last year, and he is making his season debut tonight at Madison Square Garden.

David Steckel, as expected, is also playing tonight. Lines will probably be different, so check back in a bit. The simple move is Eric Fehr to the second line and Beagle in his place, but we’ll see what Bruce Boudreau has cooking.
