The (healthy) Caps have finished practice, and a few of the injured guys — Alexander Semin, Mike Knuble and Quitin Laing — are on the ice now. Bruce Boudreau ruled Semin out for tomorrow night, and said if he were guessing he’d say Thursday against Florida at the Phone Booth. He did say if Semin feels good after today and skates this weekend that Monday in Carolina remains a possibility.

Shaone Morrisonn said he made some progress after taking a couple of days off from skating, but he has to wait and see how his body reacts to today’s practice.

Jose Theodore said Semyon Varlamov is starting in net for the Caps tomorrow against Montreal — it is the the fourth straight game for Varlamov. It is also the place where he made his NHL debut last year.

Boudreau said Tyler Sloan went home to Calgary because of the death of someone close to him, but he will fly to Raleigh and join the team there.

Both Mathieu Perreault and Alexandre Giroux talked about having to acquire tickets for tomorrow night’s game. Perreault said he bought 17, but expects other friends to find their own way into Centre Bell, while Giroux said he purchased 14 for the game.

“It is hard to say yes to everybody,” Giroux said.

For Perreault, it will be his first NHL game in Montreal. He said it will be his first time skating on the ice there, but he grew up a big Habs fan and Saku Koivu was his favorite player.

More on Perreault, who has turned an emergency callup into quite the extended stay with the big club, in tomorrow’s paper.
