ust last month on his blog Gilbert Arenas gave his take on players that either had landed with new teams or soon would find new homes. He mentioned Juan Dixon and how he would like to see the former Terp back in D.C.

Ever since news of Gil had his knee scoped last week, fans have been calling for a return of Dixon, and today Ernie Grunfeld obliged, signing Juan to a partially guaranteed deal. Dixon fills the Wizards’ need for a veteran scoring pressence off the bench, kinda filling the role that Roger Mason Jr. played last year.

During their joint press conference today — a few hours before Dixon signed — Ernie Grunfeld and Eddie Jordan both talked about their hope to sign Dixon and how his experience and familiarity with the system would be key.

Although it wasn’t the guaranteed deal Dixon was reportedly seeking, he decided coming home was his best bet.

Over the course of his six-year career, Dixon has played for the Wizards, Portland, Toronto and Detroit, averaging 8.9 points and 1.7 assists a game.
