President Bush will head to the downtown D.C. headquarters of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Sunday morning, the White House announced Saturday night.

The president will monitor preparations for Hurricane Gustav, a Category 4 storm that is bearing down on the Gulf Coast and could hit New Orleans, just over three years after Hurricane Katrina.

With that experience in mind, the White House is at pains to stay on top and ahead of this storm, which forecasters say could be enormous. New Orleans authorities have issued a mandatory evacuation order that takes effect Sunday.

Mr. Bush is scheduled to make a statement to the press at 12:20 p.m.
