Apple computer’s Web site has news Friday morning: April 3 is the on-sale date for “basic” models of the firm’s new iPad, i.e., those without built-in 3G wireless connectivity. You can click on this link to sign up for notification of additional news on the product. Starting March 12, you can pre-order the iPad from Apple’s Online Store or schedule a pickup at a local Apple outlet. (Along with my initial speculation about the device, I added some comments here after the initial Jan. 27 announcement.)

I’m guessing the crowds will be huge that day. Then again, it is the day before Easter Sunday, so clothes shopping might predominate.

Nah, that’s not gonna happen!
