Film and TV actor Charlie Sheen entertained an audience in Washington, D.C. at Constitution Hall on Tuesday night as part of his “Torpedo of Truth” tour and DC’s Metropolitan Police Department rolled out the red carpet for Mr. Sheen by providing a high speed police escort from Dulles airport to the show’s venue downtown. According to a tweet from Mr. Sheen’s Twitter feed

Mr. Sheen arrived almost an hour late to his show due to a child custody hearing in Los Angeles with his ex-wife Brooke Mueller.

According to the Daily Caller, the TV actor said upon his arrival at the show, “I just landed.” He added, “We had a police escort and we ran more red lights than Brooke Mueller heading to a pawn shop.”

When the Washington Times contacted the Metropolitan Police Department about who approved the police escort, MPD spokewoman Gwendolyn Crump wrote in an e-mail, “This escort was handled as a reimbursable detail. This means that the government was reimbursed for the services provided.”

In a follow up e-mail to further questions about the break down for the reimbursable detail, the spokeswoman wrote : “This entire matter is under investigation.”

“I have no idea. I didn’t even know Charlie Sheen got a police escort,” said Washington D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray to me this morning. “I really don’t know. So, obviously, I didn’t approve it.”

An e-mail about the matter to Mr. Sheen’s publicist on Wednesday went unanswered.
