Many TV stations have been airing segments about Dr. Seuss books because of accusation that a few of them are racist ("6 Dr. Seuss books won't be published for racist images," Web, March 2). Dr. Seuss, whose birth name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, grew up in segregated times and wrote books about White people, but his cats and other creatures were not racist.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Ferlinghetti was a trailblazer

Lawrence Ferlinghetti became a household name when I was young, as famous as the poet whose work he published and defended, Allen Ginsberg ("Beat poet, publisher Lawrence Ferlinghetti dies at 101," Web, Feb. 23). Everyone among the cultural avant garde back then followed his trial and most, thrilled by the new voice of Ginsberg in "Howl," understood that while this example of Beat poetry was nothing like Percy Bysshe Shelley, neither was it simply an ersatz sample to be discarded as being below community standards. Both Ginsberg and Ferlinghetti were trailblazers within our common culture, the perceived societal ignominy of their youth transformed by their brave actions into staples of achievement.

How interesting that now Donald Trump is gone, the Democrats are turning on each other. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the Emmy-winning hero of the COVID-19 pandemic, is now being slandered and charged with everything from sexual harrassment to outright murder. The fact that he is likely guilty on all counts should be irrelevant. Many prominent Democrats are guilty of everything from romantic relationships with Red Chinese spies to treason. From massive, blatantly obvious voter fraud to child molestation on Jeffrey Epstein's now-infamous island, the hypocrisy spewed by these self-righteous liberals is enough to make a person lose their lunch.

For some years, one could disagree with Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton and still respect her integrity. Now with her introducing legislation to remove the Emancipation Statue from Lincoln Park that is no longer the case. She has hooked onto the woke, Black Lives Matter cancel-culture cult. The reversal by the Biden administration of former President Trump's immigration policies at the southern border with Mexico is a travesty. It is counter to American values and is undermining the rule of good common sense. As illegal immigrants and amnesty seekers from Mexico and Central America flood our southern border, the White House's fabricated crisis is unfathomable. The administration's border policy is an extreme fiasco.
