After irking the Bush White House over the past few weeks, first by closing a fundraiser in Phoenix and then by harshly bashing the president in his end-of-the-primaries speech, Sen. John McCain may be trying to make it up.
Speaking at a town hall in Philadelphia today, Mr. McCain took the chance to ask his audience to applaud Mr. Bush and first lady Laura Bush for their efforts on fighting AIDS, Malaria and other diseases that hit developing countries particularly hard.
“Maybe it might be nice to give President Bush and Laura Bush a little credit for their dedication,” Mr. McCain said.
