Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, has come out against the House Republican push to link the defunding of Obamacare to a possible government shutdown.

Mr. Romney said in an interview taped Friday for CNN’s “The Lead with Jack Tapper” that there are better ways for Republicans to scrap the Afforidable Care Act.

“We’re more effective tactically not to use a shutdown of some kind to pursue the … anti-Obamacare objective. I don’t think that will be as effective,” he said.

Mr. Romney said that the GOP would be better off trying to delay the law for at least a year.

The interview is set to air at 4 p.m. Friday on CNN.
