It’s Obama night on SNL. (Republican stalwarts, look the other way.)

Yes, Sen. Barack Obama will make a cameo appearance on NBC‘s “Saturday Night Live” this weekend — just 24 hours or so after Sen. John McCain braved ABC’s “The View” and FOX’s “Rachael Ray,” obviously out to woo the eat-in kitchen vote.

Meanwhile, it’s also going to be Sarah night on SNL. Executive producer Lorne Michaels had dreamed of casting NBC diva/actress/SNL alum Tina Fey as Gov. Sarah Palin on the upcoming show. But alas. Fey is away. She’s busy. Michaels will have to settle for new cast member Casey Wilson, who at least has Palin-esque hair and an earnest expression — though is most likely capable of Palin-bashing nonetheless.

A final casting note: Michaels has also revealed that Maya Rudolph has been tapped to play potential-first lady Michelle Obama.
