Gotham Central Vol.1: In the Line of Duty

Gotham Central Vol.1: In the Line of Duty, hard cover, DC Comics, $29.99

240 pages of some of the best police/crime comics of the last decade, written by Greg Rucka (Whiteout, Queen and Country) and Ed Brubaker (Criminal). Need more than that? It’s all set in Batman’s Gotham City, so they aren’t just dealing with “normal” criminals, but also Batman’s rogues gallery. Highly recommended!

Omega the Unknown from Marvel Publishing

Omega the Unknown, hard cover, Marvel Publishing, $29.99

Novelist Jonathan Lethem (Motherless Brooklyn, Fortress of Solitude) teams up with indy cartoonists Farel Dalrymple and Paul Hornschemeier to bring us their take on this long-forgotten 1970s hero. Originally created by Steve Gerber at the same time that he was doing Howard the Duck. Weird and very cool.

Greg Bennett is the Owner/Manager of Big Planet Comics, a chain of pop art specialty stores in the DC Metro area with locations in Georgetown, Bethesda, Vienna, & College Park.
