\ It means that Maryland Madness at Comcast Center will be much easier to handle (as opposed to having a football game at Virginia the next day). There’s no reason to nervously think about falling asleep on the looming drive down US 29 after a late night. Instead, it’ll be time to think about college basketball without any repercussions, which is never a bad thing.\

\ The event - which starts at 8 p.m. Friday; doors open at 6:30 - will be an early look at the five freshmen joining the program this season, as well as a chance to catch a glimpse of James Gist (fresh off his Pan Am Games trip) and Greivis Vasquez (whose busy summer took him to five continents and included guarding Kobe Bryant while playing for Venezuela in the FIBA Americas Olympic qualifying tournament).\

\ Tickets are free but must be reserved through the Maryland ticket office. The women’s team takes the floor at 9:25, while the men will be introduced at 10:05.\
