Texas A&M Florida State survive a harrowing bye week, which no one enjoys

\ The Simpsons reference aside, the Seminoles would be wise to do a better job of surviving the bye week and not to get any more players suspended. Linebacker Geno Hayes and fullback Joe Surratt were both arrested yesterday after a confrontation with police early yesterday morning and then suspended indefinitely. The Tallahassee Democrat has the details.\

\ * Boston College meets a respected opponent in Army, according to the Boston Globe. The Cadets (1-2) have surrendered 40 points on offense and special teams, while yielding just 10 on defense. Here’s betting Matt Ryan and Co. surpass that in the first quarter at Alumni Stadium.\

\ * N.C. State’s nine-game losing streak ended last week against Wofford. Now the Wolfpack gets a visit from Clemson in the purported “ACC Game of the Week.” Original Hog will be on hand to provide analysis/unintentional comedy. I’ll guess Clemson linebacker Nick Watkins gets dubbed a Pterodactyl or some other such beast.\

\ * The Raleigh News & Observer notes tackling has been a problem for North Carolina during its two-game losing streak, which could be extended today with a visit to South Florida.\

\ * Tashard Choice will start for Georgia Tech today when it visits Virginia; so sayeth the Atlanta Journal-Constiution. The Yellow Jackets have not won in Charlottesville since that ridiculous 41-38 game in 1990 that catapulted them into the national title discussion.\
