Vice President Joseph R. Biden and his wife, Jill, will head to India and Singapore in late July to meet with key leaders, the White House announced Monday.

In India, Mr. Biden will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues with key leaders, and in Singapore, he “will consult with leaders on a range of shared priorities, including implementing the Asia-Pacific rebalance, and highlight America’s continued engagement with a key partner in Southeast Asia.”

The White House said additional details will be released at a later date.

President Obama is scheduled to depart Wednesday for a weeklong trip to Africa, which has drawn attention, in part, for its price tag, estimated to be between $60 million and $100 million. The cost is largely due to the large security force that will travel with the first family.
