A new poll released Wednesday finds that Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Ken Cuccinelli are running neck and neck in Virginia’s gubernatorial race.
Roughly six months out from Election Day, the NBC News/Marist poll found that Mr. McAuliffe holds a slight lead — 43 percent to 41 percent — over Mr. Cuccinelli, the state’s attorney general.
The survey of 1,095 registered voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The poll also showed that more voters trust Mr. Cuccinelli to “do what’s best” for Virginia and also that voters have a more favorable impression of the Republican.
A Washington Post poll last week showed Mr. Cuccinelli with a 46 percent to 41 percent lead over Mr. McAuliffe.
