Out of respect for the victims of Monday’s Navy Yard massacre, the Obama administration has canceled the “Musica Latina” event, scheduled to take place at the White House on Monday night.

The president was slated to give remarks at the concert, and was to be joined by first lady Michelle Obama.

Mr. Obama also issued a proclamation calling for flags to be flown at half-staff until Sept. 20 “as a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence” seen Monday at Navy Yard, where at least 12 people were shot and killed.
