Gillette Stadium

\ *The Patriots got it right when they built Gillette Stadium \0x2013 it’s a big stadium, but not too big (65,000). The fans are right on top of the field. The only problem is getting to the stadium. To put it bluntly, the Patriots play in the middle of nowhere (roughly halfway between Boston and Providence) and there’s only one three-lane road to get to the stadium off Interstate 495. It took one reporter two hours to drive 80 miles.\

\ *The power brokers met at midfield 45 minutes before kickoff \0x2013 Redskins owner Dan Snyder and Patriots owner Bob Kraft. A look through the binoculars proved inconclusive whether Kraft showed The Danny his three Super Bowl rings.\

\ *For the second consecutive season, Gillette Stadium is the champion in the pregame music department. U2, Kid Rock, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC and, prior to the opening kickoff, Bush.\

\ *They almost ran out of ammo during last year’s 41-0 preseason win over the Redskins but the guys dressed as minutemen were back with their guns yesterday. We shall call them The Bunker Hill Gang.
